The University of Gdańsk ranks among the top ten most popular universities in Poland

The University of Gdańsk was the eighth most popular choice in the country in terms of the total number of applicants and ranked sixth among public higher education institutions in terms of the number of students admitted to first-degree and uniform master's degree programmes, according to data from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education on enrolment for the 2025/2026 academic year. UG was also the fourth most popular university in Poland.

In the 2025/2026 academic year, 335,368 people were admitted to first-degree and uniform master's degree programmes, of which 228,769 were admitted to public universities. The University of Gdańsk welcomed 6,518 new students, selected from nearly 26,000 candidates.

During this year's recruitment at the University of Gdańsk, the most popular fields of study among candidates for first-degree and uniform master's degree programmes, in terms of the number of people per place, were Journalism and Social Communication, Criminology, Psychology, Japanese Studies, and Audiovisual Production. The highest number of applications overall was recorded for Psychology, Law, Economics, Management and International Economic Relations. There was also an increase in interest among candidates in English-language programmes: International Business offered by the Faculty of Economics was among the top ten programmes with the highest number of applications and a ratio of 6.29 applicants per place.
