Is the Archive photogenic? Participants in the 'Focus on the Archives' competition organised by the University of Gdańsk Archives and the Center for Student and Doctoral Student Activity at the University of Gdańsk could find out for themselves. Throughout March, students and staff of the University were able to visit the Archive and capture it from behind the lenses of their own cameras and camcorders. The competition aimed to promote the University, the University of Gdańsk Archives, and the historical sources it holds, as well as the activities of the University's students and staff.
In the end, five people decided to take part in the competition (students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of History and an employee of the UG Faculty of History). They submitted 21 photographs and 2 films depicting the Archive and the University's archival collections to the competition.
On April 9, 2024, a meeting of the ‘Focus on the Archives’ Competition Committee was held, composed as follows:

3. Director of University of Gdańsk Archives dr Monika Płuciennik
4. Anna Siekierska from the University of Gdańsk Archives
5. Kacper Wiśniewski from the Center for Student and Doctoral Student Activity
The Competition Committee decided to award the following works:
1. in the ‘Moving image’ category (e.g. film):
2. in the ‘Still image’ category (e.g. photography):
- 1st place and Grand Prix: Aleksander Szlęzak,
- 2nd place: ex aequo Monika Nagórska and Sara Węgrzyn,
- 3rd place: Ada Gałan.

The award ceremony and opening of the post-competition exhibition will take place on April 25 (Thursday) at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the University of Gdańsk Library. The awarded works will also be on display in the lobby of the Rektorat (ground floor) in the following days.
