Four researchers from the University of Gdańsk have been nominated for the ‘TOP 100 Women in Biotech in Poland’ list. This prestigious group includes: prof. dr hab. Ewa Łojkowska, dr hab. Ewelina Król, prof. UG, prof. dr hab. Sylwia Rodziewicz-Motowidło, and prof. dr hab. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska.

Every year, the ‘Perspektywy’ Educational Foundation compiles the ‘Top 100 Women in Biotech in Poland’ list, thereby recognising women who make an exceptional contribution to the development of biotechnology - as scientists, leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and innovators. The list of experts provides a comprehensive overview of the talent, knowledge and influence of women active in the Polish and international biotech ecosystem. Its aim is not only to recognise the achievements of the distinguished experts, but also to increase the visibility of women in science and technology and to inspire future generations.

The role of the list compiled by ‘Perspektywy’ is to inspire young women facing important life choices (studies, career) to consider the biotech sector as an interesting career path,’ says the President of the ‘Perspektywy’ Educational Foundation, dr Bianka Siwińska. ‘One of our foundation’s missions is to combat gender inequality in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). The annual publication of the Top 100 list is an important step towards building a more inclusive and diverse environment in the STEM sector and strengthening the position of women in science and business.’

Nominations for female researchers from the University of Gdańsk - prof. dr hab. Ewa Łojkowska (Head of the Department of Plant Protection and Biotechnology, IFB UG and MUG), dr hab. Ewelina Król, prof. UG (Dean of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG and MUG), prof. dr hab. Sylwia Rodziewicz-Motowidło (Head of the Department of Biomedical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdańsk) and prof. dr hab. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska (Director of the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Science at the University of Gdańsk - ICCVS UG) - are a token of appreciation for their daily research, organisational and teaching work, as well as their immense contribution to building a strong position for Polish biotechnology and chemistry on the international stage.

The gala ceremony, at which the list of Top 10 Women in Biotech in Poland - the most distinguished experts selected from this year’s top 100 - will be announced, will take place on 10 June during the ‘Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit’ 2026 event.

The selection will be made by a panel of renowned experts from the worlds of science and business, chaired by Agnieszka Chacińska, Director of IMol. The jury comprises: Adriana Kędzierska-Mencfeld (CEO, Rezon Bio), Joanna Liliental (Executive Director, Stanford University School of Medicine), Agnieszka Czechowicz (Assistant Professor, Stanford University School of Medicine), Joanna Wojsiat (science communicator), Krzysztof Bojanowski (CEO, Sunny BioDiscovery) and Aleksandra Kubica-Misztal (CEO, BioForum).

We offer our heartfelt congratulations and wish you every success in the future!
