March with HR Excellence in Research at the University of Gdańsk

The University of Gdańsk is consistently developing its activities under the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), strengthening standards for the work and development of researchers in accordance with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers. March was a month of intensive initiatives focused on collaboration, skills development and strategic planning for the coming years.

One of the key events was the conference entitled “Cooperation without borders - Building the NAWA EURAXESS Regional Network”, which brought together representatives of research institutions involved in the development of the research community. During the event, the Director of the University of Gdańsk’s Research Office, dr Katarzyna Świerk, moderated a panel discussion entitled “From logo to a culture of change: HR Excellence in Research in university practice”, dedicated to the implementation of the HR Excellence in Research strategy in the day-to-day operations of higher education institutions.

Workshops for staff responsible for the implementation and execution of the HR Excellence in Research strategy, held in late March, were also a key component of these activities. The training sessions were organised as part of the MOSAIC project and aimed to strengthen the competencies of those involved in the development of HR policy and to align the university’s activities with European standards.

Another important step towards further development was the approval of the new HRS4R action plan for 2026-2030 by the Senate Committee on Academic Staff. This document sets out the University of Gdańsk’s priorities in the area of HR policy, taking into account, amongst other things, ethical and professional aspects, recruitment processes, working conditions and the development of researchers’ competencies.

These initiatives form part of the university’s long-term strategy, which aims to create a friendly and transparent working environment and to strengthen the academic potential of the University of Gdańsk.
